A God-focused, Family-oriented Church

The Lighthouse Church of Pensacola, Florida is one church you may want to check out. The church is a stalwart of the Baptist denomination and is known for its community service and social events. With a plethora of ministries for men, women, and kids, the church has something for everyone. It is easy to see why the congregation has grown to a cult following in less than a decade.

One of the most interesting parts of the church is its leadership team. Among its clergy are a trio of preachers, including Pastor Jeff Adams, who has been in ministry for over 15 years. He and his wife Tara are avid fans of community sports and are dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle among the congregation.

Ministry to The Homeless

Whether it is an overnight shelter for men, women, or children, the Pensacola Mission is there for all. In addition to providing warm showers, clean clothes, and meals, they also provide substance abuse counseling and referrals. A few of the other services they offer include a mail and message center, financial planning, and parenting classes.

Another ministry that has been a great help to the homeless in Pensacola is Huma-Faith. Huma-Faith is a non-profit organization that provides various services to homeless and at-risk youth, women, and other individuals. They challenge social issues such as homelessness, substance abuse, veteran issues, and prisoner's reentry. The Lifeline Program is a 60-day residential discipleship program that aims to break the cycle of homelessness and encourage productive living.

The Day Resource Center offers shower facilities and a place to store personal items. It also has a mail and message center that helps to provide critical documents. Finally, the Women's Care Center provides counseling and financial planning for women in the community. Those who are interested in volunteering for this ministry must complete an application and background check. Their services are free of charge.

If you or a loved one is in need of a meal, shelter, or a safe place to stay, contact the Pensacola Mission or the Lighthouse Baptist Church to learn more. You can also make a donation online.

Outreach to Military Families

There are many ways to connect to military families. One of the easiest is through word of mouth. If you know someone with a deployed service member, then you might be able to get a word-of-mouth referral to attend an event hosted by a veteran's organization. Similarly, if you know of a family that is planning on moving into a military area, you could offer them information about local resources they might want to check out. More

Another way to connect to military families is to join a partnership group. These are groups that bring together businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations in the community. Attending these meetings will help you to make new connections. For example, consider joining a partnership group that works with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit Christian housing ministry.

You can also attend events hosted by the military and veteran organizations. You will be able to meet other active duty families and learn more about resources available to military families. Some of these resources include free emergency food, transitional housing, and counseling. A few of these services are sponsored by the Big Bend Housing Authority, which is a faith-based nonprofit. The agency provides transitional housing, health care, and employment assistance to military families.

Finally, you can find resources that will allow your children to make friendships outside of their immediate military community. These resources include programs for young people, such as after-school programs. Several Child Development Centers are also offered through the military.
