Edward Ball Nature Trail

Known as the most popular UWF bike trail, this is an easy hike with a short boardwalk that traverses the freshwater swamp of Thompson's Bayou. There are also two side trails to explore. One is a 1.6-mile trail that links to the Edward Ball Nature Trail and the other is a half-mile boardwalk that connects to the UWF West Campus Blue Loop Trail.

The UWF Edward Ball Nature Trail has a long history dating back to 1968 and has a lot to offer the outdoor enthusiast. The trail is an easy one-mile loop trail that offers scenic views of cruising bass and interesting native plant species, including the swamp yellow jasmine and Orontium aquaticum. The UWF campus has over 1,600 acres of wooded areas and 300 acres of marsh and wetlands. Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Fields

Located in the Florida Panhandle, the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex is a 103-acre regional park that is host to 13 soccer fields, 10 lighted softball fields, and a 2,500-seat soccer stadium. As for the stadium, it's not a bad place to watch the game. In fact, Ashton Brosnaham has a reputation for hosting one of the best men's soccer leagues in the country. Moreover, there are a number of reasons to visit this quaint little town, from the Navy's famed Blue Angels flight demonstration team to the world's largest naval aviation museum. Despite all of this, the city still manages to retain its small-town charm. Game Sides (Orange Loop)

Located northeast of campus, UWF Trails Game Sides (Orange Loop) is almost ten miles long and encircles a large clay pit area known as "The Playground." This area has a large number of trails that are suitable for mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and horseback riding. Check it out here

The UWF Outdoor Adventure program is partnering with Chronolog to track environmental conditions and participant photos along the Edward Ball Nature Trail. The area is also a wetlands habitat, including hammock and sandhill habitats. The UWF campus is bordered by the Conecuh River and 1,600 acres of natural preserve. The trails are open to two-way traffic. UWF trails are suitable for families and cyclists. They are open seven days a week. Cyclists and equestrians must yield to foot traffic, and must be careful not to disturb wildlife. A dirt road is located beside Pate Road, which is a service road that connects Crist Power Plant to the Country Ridge Subdivision. The trailhead is located on the right side of the road just before descending a hill.
