West Florida Railroad Museum

Located in the historic 1909 building, the West Florida Railroad Museum is a unique attraction that houses railroad cars and memorabilia. You can also ride the train and enjoy a historic presentation. It's a great place to go for a family day out.

Historic Presentations

The Florida Railroad Museum is a great place to visit if you're interested in learning about Florida's railroad history. The museum has a number of locomotives, cabooses, and freight cars on display. There are also several rides and historic presentations.

While there's plenty to see, the museum's focus is mostly on the state's rail history. There are two steam locomotives, as well as a couple of diesel. They're accompanied by a few freight cars and a cover hopper.

The museum also has a few outbuildings, including a combination passenger and freight depot. Located on a roadside campus, the museum is open Wed-Sat, 10 am-3 pm.

The museum has several special events, including the Pumpkin Patch Express in October, the Cotton Tail Express around Easter, and a Murder Mystery event from mid-February to early March. You can take a tour of the museum's model train set, as well as a ride on the museum's tourist train. Up next is Carver-Hill Museum Crestview FL

A few of the historic presentations include a trip through the Age of Sail. This was a time when tall ships plied the treacherous waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. Steam power replaced sail in the 1820s. Sail remained a part of the industrial fabric of Key West, however, until the Great Depression.

Model Train Displays

If you're a fan of model trains or railroad history, you'll enjoy visiting the West Florida Railroad Museum. This small museum offers an indoor and outdoor display of railroad artifacts and equipment, as well as the usual model train exhibits.

There are actually eight train museums in the state of Florida. Each one offers something different to visitors. Some museums offer diesel or diesel-electric excursions, while others focus on vintage trains, locomotives, and cars.

The West Florida Railroad Museum is housed in the old L&N depot in Milton, FL. Built-in 1909, this venerable structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Inside the depot, there is a miniature garden railroad. It includes an elaborate HO-scale model train layout. Visitors can even ride a 7-1/2-gauge train in the garden. Check this out

Several buildings are also on display, including a gift shop and snack bar. The downstairs area features display cases of model railroad pieces, perfect for kids to play with.

Riding The Train

Located on the Florida Gulf Coast, the West Florida Railroad Museum is a hidden gem. It features a unique combination of freight and passenger depot, as well as several outbuildings. The museum is open on Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm.

Besides the train, the West Florida Railroad Museum is home to a number of other attractions. For instance, there is a vintage dining car, as well as a model railroad and an outdoor "G-scale" train.

The free Museum of Trains, located on the site of a century-old train depot, is staffed by volunteers with a passion for trains. There is also a gift shop. This museum contains a number of trains of all sizes and even a freight car.

Another enticing attraction is the open-air observation car. This is a great way to watch a train in action. Unfortunately, the canopy is not climate-controlled. Nevertheless, it is a worthwhile endeavor.

One of the best parts of the train ride at the West Florida Railroad Museum is the opportunity to see the area's rich history firsthand. There are several exhibits to learn about the local trains, and visitors can choose to ride in different types of cars.

Weather Forecast

The West Florida Railroad Museum is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and re-use of historic railroad equipment and facilities. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 am to 3 pm. Visitors can see a model railroad layout, several outbuildings, and informational placards. There are also displays about the 140-year history of the Gulf Coast railroad. Children can ride a 7-1/2 Gauge train.

The WFO Miami has been providing on-site weather support to events such as NASCAR at Homestead Speedway, the Fort Lauderdale Air Sea Show, and more. They have also supported events like Tropical Storm Isaac. They also provide onsite weather support for emergency management agencies and other organizations. This is increasingly important as water issues become more critical.

Highs for this week will be in the mid-20s, but there will be a chance for rain later in the week. Lows will be in the single digits on Saturday and Sunday. Wind chills will be as cold as -30deg in the morning and below zero in the afternoon.
