Hangar Bay One Pensacola FL

If you are planning a trip to Pensacola Florida, there are many things to see and do. One of them is the National Navy Aviation Museum.

This historic military and aerospace museum is located on the grounds of Naval Air Station Pensacola. The museum is home to a large collection of aircraft that spans the history of U.S. aviation and engineering.

Hangar Bay One

The newest addition to the National Naval Aviation Museum, Hangar Bay One adds 55,000 square feet of exhibit space to a facility already one of the largest in the world. Its facade is reminiscent of hangars of old, the building primarily displays aircraft from the museum collection that flew during the post-World War II era. Some of these include the R4D-5L Skytrain nicknamed "Que Sera Sera" that in 1956 became the first aircraft to land at the South Pole and the P2V-1 Neptune nicknamed the Truculent Turtle that in 1946 established a long-distance record during a flight between Perth, Australia and Columbus, Ohio.

While you’re here, be sure to check out the MaxFlight 360, a high-def pitching and rolling flight simulator that will have your blood pumping. Afterward, don’t forget to see the Blue Angels 4D Experience, a state-of-the-art theater show that will leave you feeling like you’re part of a real-life airshow. The museum is located a short walk from Pensacola Naval Air Station, and admission is free for active military personnel!

The National Navy Aviation Museum

The National Navy Aviation Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most visited museums in Florida. Visitors can see more than 150 restored aircraft representing the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard up close.

Located at the NAS Pensacola Air Station, it’s a must-see for any aviation enthusiast. It’s also the home base for the Blue Angels, a demonstration squadron that performs awe-inspiring aerobatic maneuvers during practice flights.

In addition to a collection of historic aircraft, the museum also features interactive exhibits and other aviation artifacts. It also has IMAX films and flight simulators that will appeal to both kids and adults.

The museum is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. to current Department of Defense (DoD) ID card holders and Veterans who possess a VHIC from the Department of Veterans Affairs that displays their Veteran’s eligibility status. DoD ID cardholders are permitted to escort guests as part of the Trusted Traveler Program but must always remain with their guests.

Pensacola Lighthouse

Located onboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, the Pensacola Lighthouse offers a breathtaking view of the Gulf Coast. The tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been active as a United States Coast Guard aid to navigation since 1859.

Visitors can climb 177 steps to the top of the tower for one of the most impressive views in Florida. The tower also features a museum housed in the restored 1869 keeper’s quarters. The next article is Colonial Archaeological Trail Pensacola FL

The area surrounding the tower has been a major battleground in several military conflicts, including Spain, England, France, and the American Civil War. The storied history of this area is rich and fascinating.

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and military personnel. Be sure to bring a valid driver’s license and a form of identification such as a passport or social security card. This article

Tiger Point Peninsula

This peninsula, which is located between Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound, has earned some evaluators' highest marks for its rural feel and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. It is also home to a golf course and some very nice homes.

The best part is that the area is safe and affordable, making it a great place to raise a family. Its crime rate is also well below the national average.

In fact, Tiger Point was named the second best community to raise a family in Florida by Niche and has a livability score of 86, based on a number of factors.

The town also boasts a fascinating structure, called Hangar Bay One, which is the tallest building in Florida and the state of Alabama. It is a 55,000-square-foot building that was designed to suspend historic aircraft from its metal trusses. It is expected to receive a million visitors annually and has been made possible by private donations.
