Hitzman Optimist Park

Located at the intersection of Langley Avenue and Hibiscus Avenue in Northeast Pensacola, Hitzman Optimist Park is one of the most popular parks in the area. The park is an oasis of calm amidst the bustling downtown and is a good spot for family picnics in the afternoon. Its three-mile length is perfect for a post-work run or an evening stroll with your favorite book. The park is located within a short distance of Pensacola State College and the Pensacola International Airport. The park is undergoing a major renovation, and the improvements are expected to be finished by the summer of 2019.

There are two parts to the renovation: the disc golf course and the soccer fields. The disc golf course is a 9-hole course spanning the length of the park. The construction of the disc golf course is expected to take place in tandem with the construction of the soccer fields. A new concession stand is also in the works, but it will be relocated 50 feet west of the other pieces of the Optimist Park puzzle.
