Veterans Memorial Park

The Park is a tribute to the brave soldiers from Delaware and New Jersey who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The Park is open year-round to the public and features a variety of memorials. It also includes a Gold Star Monument.

Memorial Walls

The Memorial Walls at Veterans Memorial Park provide a place for residents and visitors to honor and remember those who have served our country. They include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the Women’s War Monument, and the Honor Service Wall.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is one of the most recognized symbols of the nation’s dedication to the Vietnam War. The black granite wall, which is 246 feet long, inscribes the names of over 58,000 American soldiers who died while serving their country.

In addition to the wall, the park also features a bronze statue named The Three Servicemen (also known as The Three Soldiers). This bronze statue is seven feet tall and depicts three servicemen standing at attention to the wall and the names of their fallen comrades.

The Memorial Walls are a fitting symbol of the City’s commitment to honor and remembrance of its citizens who have served our country. Additionally, the park's design allows for future memorials to be built. Up next is Lighthouse A Maritime Museum Escambia County Florida

Flagpoles

Several flagpoles display the flags of the major branches of the armed services. They also include a flag for soldiers who were POW/MIAs.

During Veterans Day weekend, Franciscan University of Steubenville unveiled a new memorial plaque at the base of a flagpole and dedicated it to a ceremony. More than 100 students, alumni, and veterans gathered to pay tribute to those who died in military service.

The Franciscan community praised the university's efforts to honor veterans of past wars and foreign conflicts and current students and alumni who served in the armed forces. Ray Challis '67 and Dan Schmidt '67, members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, offered remarks on the significance of the new memorial.

Morrill Worcester, founder of Wreaths Across America, and his sons have spent more than a decade dreaming up the Flagpole of Freedom Park. It will be the only place in the country to honor all 24 million U.S. veterans and is set to open on July 4, 2026. Phase 1 would include 55 remembrance walls and six miles of gondolas taking visitors to hiking trails, immersive history exhibits, 4D theaters, restaurants, and retail spaces.

Monuments

A variety of monuments honor the men and women who have served in the military. Whether it's a tribute to the Berlin Airlift or a memorial to the Vietnam War, visitors will find a place to pay their respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

A bronze sculpture titled "Fallen Soldier" honors two soldiers who have fallen in battle. The pair are positioned in a battlefield cross, with one female soldier touching the shoulder of her comrade, who kneels in reflection.

The Soldiers' Memorial on Worcester Common was commissioned in 1874 and honors local 4,000 who served during the Civil War. The bottom course of stonework is adorned with four tablets engraved with 398 names of those who perished.

In 2007, Andrzej Dajnowski re-sculpted the American Soldier to its original glory through the help of many community members and organizations. The statue is now a beautiful, lasting memorial for all of our service men and women who have given their lives in defense of our country.

Community Center

The Community Center, located in Veterans Memorial Park, is where the community can come and participate in various programs. This facility has a full gym, 6 multi-purpose activity rooms, a dance studio, and 2 kitchens.

This facility is home to most of the park district’s recreation staff and offices. It is also home to multiple classrooms, a rock climbing wall, and a banquet hall that can be rented for special events. Check this out

In this park, there is a Veterans Memorial, which consists of five jet-black granite tablets mounted on a pentagon shape base of exposed aggregate. Each tablet is engraved with the name of the service branch and the date.

This passive park is an area of quiet reflection and public ceremony. Walkways of bricks bearing the veteran’s name, a branch of service, and a date radiate from the base of the granite pedestal. These bricks are purchased by relatives and friends of the veteran wishing to honor them.
